Salt Lake Mailing Scholarship
Five $1,000 awards for students who believe great ideas deserve to be delivered
For more than 40 years, Salt Lake Mailing and Printing has helped Utah businesses get their message into real hands: printed, mailed, and delivered. We know firsthand that careers in marketing, print, and communications start with students who can think clearly and write persuasively.
This scholarship exists to support five students every year.
Who can apply
- Current high school seniors, undergraduate, or graduate students enrolled (or accepted) at an accredited U.S. college or university
- Any major is welcome; students in marketing, communications, business, graphic design, or supply chain/logistics are especially encouraged
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- No purchase or business relationship required; employees of Salt Lake Mailing and Printing and their immediate family are not eligible
The essay
In 800–1,200 words, answer one of the following:
1. Print in a digital world
Marketers spend billions on digital ads that most people scroll past. Why does physical mail still work, and where do you think it fits in the marketing mix of the next decade?
2. Deliver an idea
Pick a local business you love. Design (in words) a direct mail campaign for it: audience, message, offer, and how you’d measure success.
We’re looking for clear thinking and a real point of view, not just buzzwords.
How to apply
Email the following to scholarship@saltlakemailing.com with the subject line “Scholarship Application: [Your Name]”:
- Your essay (PDF or Word)
- Your name, phone, school, major, and expected graduation year
- Proof of enrollment or acceptance (unofficial transcript or acceptance letter is fine)
Selection & fine print
Essays are judged by the Salt Lake Mailing leadership team on originality, clarity, and practicality. Each $1,000 award is paid directly to the winner’s institution toward tuition and fees. Five awards per year; winners will be notified by email and featured on this page. By applying you grant us permission to publish your name, school, and essay excerpt if selected.
